Thank you Gary for your comment. It is very hard to get the control needed using a palette knife at such a small scale. However I found it amazing the energy you can put into a study and the thickness of the paint gave a great light quality. Trevor Chamberlain plein air work is done in such a great way. Which site do you mean? the pochade.co.uk website? artists submit work by email which is then reviewed to feature on the site when we have time that is! Hope your well and appreciate your comments. Regards Antony

I am pleased to see you return from your travels with a palette knife. I think the knife is more succesful on larger pieces of work. Although I did see in the end some very interesting simplification especially in the series with the turn in the road, and the rock face on the right (I think the WYCH cutting). Yesterday I looked through a book by Trevor Chamerlain - Oils and enjoyed again his use of a rough, uneven sealing of his board with gesso I guess. This added texture fits better in scale in small work in my opinion. [I notice people sometimes add their own work to your home site, is this by invitation or is there a link I have missed?]
